Our Rooms

Each of our four en suite Bedrooms are individually designed and decorated with all the comforts of a luxury small hotel but retaining a homely feel. Super King sized beds, crisp White Company linen, fluffy towels, stunning views and all the little extras to make your stay memorable. Fresh iced water jugs, wine glasses and fresh milk. Individually thermostatically controlled underfloor heating in all suites. Higher Gitcombe B&B is the perfect place for your escape to the glorious Devon countryside.

Our breakfasts

Wherever possible, we source our food locally. Our bacon and sausages could come from Eversfield Organic Farm, Riverford or Duchy of Cornwall. Amazing artisan breads from Dartmouth, and Dartington food markets and eggs from nearby farms. Our organic dry foods are supplied by Green Life Health Food store in and fresh foods come from a range of local fruit and vegetable shops.

We also cater for vegetarians,coeliac and gluten free diets. We offer gluten free muesli, cereals and breads and can offer coeliac friendly dishes to include spinach and oven roasted tomato Omlette or how about a delicious Summer Harvest Frittata.

We have a daily specials menu as well as the "Jolly Breakfast Sundae" and a traditional cooked Devonshire breakfast. Specials could include, as a starter, poached plums with flaked almonds, yoghurt and honey, or as a main course, a smoked river cobbler on a bed of spinach topped with a poached egg. Finish off with a warm pancake with fresh blueberries drizzled with maple syrup - yummy!

We aim to serve organic produce wherever possible. We are very lucky we live so close to where we can source a huge range of organic and free range produce.

Please advise us of any special dietary requirements, we will do our best to accommodate you.

Our Sustainability Statement

Wherever possible we source our food and drink locally to reduce food miles. We also aim to purchase the best organic produce as much as possible.

Our organic bacon and sausages are bought from Riverford Farm Shop, Cheeses from Sharpham, Organic Juices from Luscombe, Organic eggs from local farm, Artisan breads from Dartmouth, and Dartington Food Markets.

We source our organic dry foods from Green Life Health Food store in . We serve raw food and vegetarian options, we also cater for gluten free diets.

We use low impact cleaning products and microfibre cloths that reduce the amount of cleaning liquid required.

The house has a high level of insulation and all the bedrooms are individually thermostatically controlled. Energy Saving light bulbs are used. We recycle glass, plastic, paper and cardboard.

We are thrilled to be able to exhibit work by local artists throughout the house including Kathy Mead oil painter, Sue Barkas watercolourist and Lynnie Jolly oil painter.
